CAMP LOGAN | RICE MILITARY | WASHINGTON CORRIDOR

Walkable, Urban Living with Greenspace Next Door.

Recognizing the value of the land due to its close proximity to Downtown Houston and Memorial Park, Rice Military went through a resurgence over recent years with the construction of new homes and townhomes. This, along with the emergence of cultural and social venues on Washington Corridor (the neighborhood’s main strip) makes Rice Military one of the most desirable places to live in Houston. To top it off, it’s less than a 20-minute commute for residents who work anywhere inside the loop, or even in Energy Corridor outside of the loop.

The area is known for its affluence, but buyers can still find homes that fit many price ranges. To optimize the amount of residents the area can accommodate, many of the newer homes are built with little to no yard space, which is perfect for homeowners who are downsizing or simply don’t want to maintain a yard. Instead, you’ll find many four-level homes and rooftop terraces with stunning views to live in true metropolitan style. And with Memorial Park just next door, you’ll have all the green space you need for dog runs, sports, and outdoor play.

Camp Logan/Rice Military/Washington Corridor sits three and a half miles west of Downtown inside the 610 Loop. If you’re wondering how the neighborhood got its name, these 1400 acres of land served as the training grounds for the US Army’s Camp John A. Logan from 1917-1918 to prepare soldiers to serve on the Western Front in World War I. By 1918, Camp Logan was serving as a military hospital where Houston’s first golf course was constructed for convalescing soldiers. The camp was decommissioned and closed in March, 1919.
